Kathleen Léonard, SBB trainee programme
Worked in the "Concepts and Design" and "Risk, Safety, Quality and Environment" areas as part of SBB's trainee programme:
Trust, responsibility, diversity. These words really sum up the last four months. As part of SBB's trainee programme, I was given the opportunity to witness transalpine freight transport first hand with SBB Cargo International.
From day one I enjoyed the full trust of my colleagues. I was able to really get stuck into a wide variety of challenging projects, such as process development, quality analyses, and drafting a concept for fleet management. My colleagues were always supportive and willing to listen.
The international atmosphere has been omnipresent and incredibly inspiring. Whether in the office or the cafeteria, you can hear people speaking in Italian or Rhenish dialect. And of course, it included a stint in the subsidiaries in Germany and Italy as well as a visit to operations control and to the production locations. This translates into a lot of work, from the depot in Basel to the transshipment terminal in Weil am Rhein to the rolling highway (RoLa) in Freiburg – or even further north to Rotterdam if required, or else to the south.
So, there was much to learn! To sum up, all I can say is: thank you so much to everyone at SBB Cargo International for these intensive four months!
