Experience Reports

I spent the second semester of my three-year public transport management traineeship at SBB Cargo International in production execution.

I gained a truly in-depth insight into goods transportation during my time at SBB Cargo International and learned a lot this business. I very much liked the spirit of close collaboration in the team, which often helped me gain an understanding of the complexity of this industry. My colleagues were always friendly and happy to help whenever uncertainties arose, and my expectations of being able to carry out interesting tasks self-reliantly were fully met.

From 1 August onward I will be working at SBB Cargo in Zurich for half a year, and will certainly be able to drawn on some of the things I have learned here.

The 12-month internship at SBB Cargo International was the practical part of my training course at Business High School in Basel.

Working in the Accounting department, I gained a good insight into how real-world bookkeeping within a company differs from the theory one learns at school. During my internship, I also had an opportunity to observe and analyse the international goods transportation market. My tasks included producing weekly reports that served as a source of information for the staff of SBB Cargo International. Working on these reports impressed on me how various events can have an impact on goods transportation. The working environment was very pleasant, and everyone in the team was very open, friendly, and helpful at all times.

I will certainly be able to put the experience I have gained to good use in the future.
